Your first 90 days: BSN, DigiD and health insurance

After arriving in the Netherlands three things are mandatory and urgent: your BSN, your DigiD and health insurance. Do them in this order — each step needs the previous one.

1. Apply for a BSN at your municipality (BRP registration). 2. Activate DigiD at digid.nl with your BSN. 3. Take out health insurance within four months; the premium applies retroactively from your registration date.
